Review of the Presidential Suite at Kimpton Seafire Resort in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

Kimpton Seafire Cayman Islands - Review - Presidential Suite
Presidential Suite Deck Late Afternoon

There’s a particular kind of hush that falls over Seven Mile Beach at golden hour — the kind that makes you slow your breathing and exaggerate every small pleasure. The Kimpton Seafire sits right in the middle of that hush and, honestly, makes it hard to leave. Alone On The Beach stayed in the Presidential Suite recently, and it was one of those stays that turns into a soft, persistent memory: modern, gracious, and quietly spectacular.

Right off the bat, the suite announces itself the way a good coastal residence should: clean lines, bright rooms, and thoughtful design that’s less about showing off and more about making you comfortable. It’s genuinely large — not “hotel-suite big” but “live-here-for-a-week” big. The layout is super practical: a roomy living area that flows through those giant panel doors onto an expansive outdoor terrace. When those doors disappear, the suite becomes a single, sunlit space that looks out over the beach. The indoor/outdoor flow is one of the real selling points — it feels private, but also very connected to the ocean beyond.

The bedroom is quietly indulgent: a comfortable king bed, good linens, and enough room to stretch without bumping into luggage. The master bath is the sort of thing you sink into — large, bright, and with a view that makes even ordinary tasks feel elevated. There’s a washer/dryer tucked away (a small thing that matters a lot on longer stays), and a fully stocked kitchen that’s actually useful — not just a kitchenette for show. If you want to host a small group, cook a relaxed breakfast, or store leftovers from an excellent hotel meal, this suite makes it effortless.

Service at Seafire was warm and uncontrived. The staff were friendly, responsive, and genuinely pleased to help — the sort of people who will remember your coffee order and make suggestions that actually improve your trip. The pools and beach set-up are excellent: plenty of comfortable loungers, attentive service, and that unbelievably soft sand Grand Cayman is famous for.

The reason for the trip: attending a large annual event with a Cayman law firm, and the suite became headquarters for a pre-gatherings before the event's main beach dinner. The Kimpton team nailed it for the event - a vintage rum bar set up under string lights, fresh coconuts hand-carved open with machetes while rum was poured directly into them, and a buffet that leaned heavily on the island’s strengths — ceviche, grilled local fish, and other seafood prepared simply and brilliantly. It was the kind of dinner that tastes better for being eaten with sand underfoot and the sound of surf nearby, and it felt authentically Caymanian without being touristy.

If you want to get out on the water while you’re there, I highly recommend the Stingray City sandbar excursion — we went with Red Sail Sports and it was a highlight. Red Sail runs catamaran tours that let you swim and snorkel with the famously friendly stingrays, and they’ve been a trusted local operator for decades. Their excursions depart on spacious catamarans, provide snorkel gear, and even offer a licensed cash bar on board, which makes the whole trip relaxed and easy to enjoy.

For anyone booking the suite with company in mind, note how well the living spaces accommodate groups: the indoor living room, combined with that broad terrace, created the perfect staging area for casual conversations and small gatherings. We had colleagues drifting in and out, drinks in hand, and it never felt crowded — just convivial. The suite is also private enough when you want quiet: close the doors, and you have your own retreat.

Practical details that mattered to me: strong Wi-Fi (so catch up on work if you must), ample storage, good blackout shades for sleeping in, and seriously thoughtful lighting that lets you set the mood from bright and practical to soft and late-night. The small touches — a stocked coffee setup, useful kitchenware, and a well-appointed bathroom — all add up to a stay that’s comfortable in the long run, not just impressive in a snapshot.

Is it one of the best suites in the Cayman Islands? I’d say yes. The combination of scale, modern design, seamless indoor/outdoor living, and genuine service makes it stand out. Whether you’re there for business, a family celebration, or a decadent weekend escape, the Presidential Suite at Kimpton Seafire offers both the facilities and the feel of a proper Caribbean residence — with the conveniences of a top hotel.
